Have a Pinkalicious Spring!

20180409_152156 (1)Man! It feels like forever since I’ve done a new display but I’ve got a really fun one for you this time.

We’ve been getting so many requests for Pinkalicious lately that I knew I just had to do a display. And then I came across this pithy saying on Pinterest and just had to recreate it in my own way!

I hand drew Pinkalicious and used accucut tulips for my flowers. Threw in a few bees, some grass and of course my saying! Other than drawing Pinkalicious this was a quick and easy display. 20180409_152201 (1)

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Hi Guys,

Our library is promoting a new initiative called 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. Basically, the goal is to have kids read or do 1000 early literacy activities before they go to kindergarten. This can be singing songs, being read to, doing bounces, rhymes. Pretty much lots of fun!

To promote this program, I threw together a display using some of the images we were given and drew up some coral, sea grass and shells. Super easy and lots of fun!

The library is the place to BEE!!!

I’m back with a brand new bulletin board! What with the weather getting up in the 70’s today, we had to get those winter displays down. So what’s better to head into spring with bees and wordplay 🙂

This was a super, super quick and easy one that anyone can do!

Nuts About Books!

Hey Guys,

It’s fall, so that means it is time for a few new displays. I’ve been a little strapped for time recently and the change in seasons have snuck up on me. So I did a quick and dirty bulletin board and I will probably be re-purposing some old displays as we enter October.

I’ve been seeing a lot of squirrel picture books lately and I thought, hey, we see a lot of squirrels in the fall so a squirrel display it is.

Simple display with some acorns and our bookish squirrel!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Back to School Days!

Pretty proud of this one guys! Came up with this idea all by myself. The kids have been killing me with requests for Diary of a Wimpy Kid books all summer; more so than usual. So I figured I needed to do some sort of Wimpy Kid display and voila:

I picked some poses of the wimpy characters out of the books and put my freehand skills to the test. I made sure to laminate everything so they last longer but the darn laminater crinkled my Diary of a Wimpy Kid sign. Was salvageable but still super annoying.

Crafting Great Minds!!!

Hi Guys,

I have been dying to do a minecraft display for months but wasn’t sure quite how to do it. It seemed like the perfect subject to compliment our summer reading theme of Build a Better World but I had this picture in my mind and wasn’t sure I could pull it off.

Finally, I decided to just cut up a bunch of different sized squares, in complimentary colors and give it a whirl. I wasn’t super impressed with my minecraft dude but the rest came out great.

I can’t wait to see how the kids respond.

BLASTOFF with a good book!

Hi Guys,

Got a new bulletin board display for you all and I have to say, I love this one!

I knew I wanted to do something with a rocket-ship because I had this 3D image in my 20170427_152347mind. Basically, I folded a small lip on either side along the length of the rocket and I used the lip to staple onto the bulletin board, which gave it the bubble effect. Word to the wise, leave yourself a big lip to staple; mine was too small and I really struggled to maneuver the stapler. Then I created cones for my boosters and used tissue paper for my fire/smoke.

From there it was pretty simple. I had a gold 20170427_152401boarder, black background and some simple accucut stars. I used 3… 2… 1… BLASTOFF with a good book! as my quote but another one I’ve found that would work well is Reading lets you soar! or some version of the two.

This was such a fun display and pretty simple to put together.

That’s all for now!
